Appeal for Beautification of Maranda (Palampur) Railway Station

Sir,
It is indeed a moment of great pride and joy that, for the first time since independence, a railway station between Pathankot and Joginder Nagar has witnessed such grand beautification. This historic development deserves heartfelt congratulations to our visionary and hardworking Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. Equal appreciation is due to the Honourable Railway Minister, Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Indu Goswami, and Lok Sabha MP Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj, for their committed efforts in making this transformation possible.

In light of this, we humbly appeal to Prime Minister Modi and all the dignitaries involved to consider Maranda Railway Station (Palampur, Himachal) for the next phase of beautification. Historically, this station held significant logistical and emotional value: it was the key point for unloading goods for Palampur and nearby regions, and it served as the lifeline for soldiers from Holta and Taragarh (formerly Alahalal), who would travel via this station during postings and leave. Army trucks were a common sight, arriving to drop off and pick up personnel during train timings.

Though its use has diminished over time, Maranda station still holds immense potential—especially from a tourism perspective. Surrounded by the lush tea gardens of Palampur and blessed with natural beauty, the area draws numerous visitors. With proper development, the station can emerge as a charming gateway to the region for domestic and international tourists alike.

Additionally, we request that all trains on this route be operated regularly with a fixed timetable. Also, where tracks get blocked due to landslides in the rainy season, a permanent engineering solution must be devised to prevent disruptions.
