Urgent Call for Intervention: Devotees Appeal to MLA Ashish Butail to Save Shri Anandpur Satsang Bhawan from Erosion Threat

INDIA REPORTER TODAY (IRT)

In a heartfelt appeal, hundreds of concerned devotees and residents of Maranda have turned to the dynamic leadership of Shri Ashish Butail, Hon’ble MLA of Palampur, requesting his immediate attention to a matter of grave concern—the fast-eroding land of Shri Anandpur Satsang Bhawan, a revered spiritual centre in the region.

Widely admired for his proactive governance, public sensitivity, and deep-rooted commitment to the welfare of Palampur’s people, MLA Ashish Butail has time and again risen to the occasion to safeguard public interest. Now, devotees believe he is the only hope to protect this spiritual sanctuary, which is facing a serious threat due to unregulated urban construction and negligence by local departments.

According to community members, the satsang bhawan stands on a vital 150-foot stretch of land facing a once-wide rivulet that has now narrowed into a dangerously small nullah. “Due to unplanned and unauthorized construction of massive concrete structures around the rivulet, the natural flow of water has been disrupted. To make matters worse, Jal Shakti Vibhag has laid large-diameter water pipes through the centre of the nullah, worsening the water diversion and flood pressure,” said a senior resident.

During monsoons, when the rivulet overflows, strong currents directly hit the satsang land, causing intense soil erosion. The community has already lost several marlas of this precious land, and erosion is creeping dangerously close to the foundation of the multi-crore satsang bhawan building. With IMD predicting heavy rainfall this monsoon, the threat to this spiritual property and to the lives of hundreds of devotees is real and immediate.

The land is not just soil — it is sacred ground where thousands gather for peace, prayer, and community service.

The satsang bhawan is a lifeline for many, especially the elderly, women, and children who attend regular Aarti Pooja, Satsang, bhandaras and spiritual gatherings.

Any damage to the premises would be not only a structural loss but also a deep emotional and cultural wound to the community.

Hence, in a unified voice, the devotees have humbly requested MLA Ashish Butail to visit the site and urgently sanction a retaining wall to safeguard the land and the spiritual centre. “We have full faith in the leadership of Ashish ji,” a local youth volunteer shared. “He has always stood by the people. We know he will take immediate action and get the retaining wall constructed before the rains arrive.”

As the monsoon clouds gather, so does the hope of the people — that their beloved MLA and CPS will once again act decisively and protect a place that offers solace to thousands.
